Product direction and public roadmap · Not a technical specification
01 / Executive summary
AI capabilities are changing quickly. Professional context is still scattered among chats, providers, files, and tools.
J-Jones V2 is designed as a continuity layer that stays with the user while AI systems change. The goal is to keep important working memory, evidence, decisions, and context under user control rather than leaving them permanently attached to any one AI provider.
This is not a proposal for one permanent model. It is a product direction for professionals who want to use changing AI capabilities without rebuilding their working context every time.
One continuity layer. Replaceable AI. User-controlled context.
A switch in model, pricing, capability, or platform can mean repeated explanation of project history and prior decisions. Answers alone are often not enough: professionals also need the context and evidence that made the work meaningful.
J-Jones is designed to reduce that reset, while keeping the user in charge of what matters over time. It aims to make changing tools a choice, not a loss of accumulated understanding.
02 / Product definition
J-Jones is a private, local-first, model-agnostic AI continuity layer. It is designed to help people keep their professional context useful as the AI tools around them change.
A direction for user-controlled memory, evidence-aware work, portable context, and continuity across changing AI capabilities.
Another chatbot, a promise that all providers are interchangeable, or a claim that AI output should become permanent truth by default.
V2 expands the continuity thesis beyond remembering information. The broader question is: how can people use increasingly capable AI systems without surrendering ownership of the context, history, and decisions that make those systems useful?
Important working context remains useful as AI tools change.
Accumulated professional context stays under user control.
AI capabilities can evolve without forcing a fresh start.
More AI capability should not automatically mean more authority over persistent information.
03 / Product principles
User-controlled continuity is the starting point, rather than permanent dependence on a single cloud AI provider.
Use different tools as needs, technology, and capabilities evolve.
Keep useful context connected to the information and decisions behind it.
AI can help with reasoning while people remain in charge of important persistent information.
Your accumulated context should not become a reason you cannot change tools.
Ownership and controlled AI access guide the product direction.
J-Jones is being developed around privacy-conscious design, controlled AI access, user ownership, and explicit boundaries between AI capability and user authority. Security controls can reduce risk but do not make any software invulnerable.
04 / Product experiences
Your local continuity foundation.
Built around private, user-controlled context without making access to your own accumulated knowledge dependent on a premium AI subscription.
Expand your reasoning options.
Use broader AI capabilities while maintaining J-Jones as the continuity layer around your work.
More capable AI workflows with continued user control.
Designed for advanced AI-assisted workflows while maintaining clear boundaries between AI capability and user authority. Full AI does not mean unrestricted access to a user's computer or information.
These modes describe product direction, not a guarantee that every experience is currently available. See the release state at jjones.ai.
05 / Audience and roadmap
J-Jones is designed for software engineering, research and analysis, consulting, business operations, leadership, technical professionals, security-conscious AI users, and people working across multiple AI platforms.
These fields differ, but they share a need: decisions, evidence, and working context should stay useful as tools change.
Desktop continuity, local-first professional memory, model-independent workflows, user-controlled context, usability, release quality, documentation, and support.
macOS, iOS, Android, easier cross-device experiences, improved onboarding, and broader professional workflows.
Professional workflows, collaborative knowledge, team continuity, administrative capabilities, and organizational use cases.
Developer and business integrations, enterprise use cases, controlled interoperability, and ecosystem opportunities.
The roadmap is directional and may change based on product validation, user feedback, security requirements, platform constraints, and business priorities. Planned capabilities should not be interpreted as currently available.
06 / Frequently asked questions
No. It is designed as a continuity layer around the AI tools you choose.
No. Model independence is a core part of the product direction.
No. Local-first describes where ownership and continuity begin. AI capabilities can vary by product experience.
The aim is to keep important working context useful rather than rebuilding it simply because the model changes.
No. Increased capability does not mean unlimited authority over your computer or information.

07 / Vision and publication
The long-term vision is straightforward: professionals should be able to benefit from new AI capabilities without giving up the accumulated context that makes those capabilities valuable.
J-Jones is intended to grow with changing professional workflows, devices, and organizations while retaining the central idea of user ownership and human authority. That vision is a direction, not a promise that any particular future capability or platform is available today.
